Which day should we arrive?
Given that many are travelling a long way, we are planning a full weekends worth of activities.
Friday: we will have exclusive use of the venue and those that are booking accommodation onsite will be able to occupy their cabin from 1200. We will be setting up the venue until 6pm (feel free to help) after which we will be having a BBQ and a mini party with games.
Saturday: WE ARE GETTING MARRIED!
Sunday: recovery/we will be doing a spot of tidying up and then heading to the beach.
We will be in the area from the Monday and plan on doing some local activities during the week such as white water rafting & mountain biking, for all activities in the local area - see the To Do tab.
You are all more than welcome to join us for as much of the weekend (and preceding week) as you want/ are able to.
How do we get there?
The best method of getting there for most will be to fly. There are regular flights into Inverness airport from all the London Airports as well as Bristol, Manchester, and Birmingham. We will be asking you nearer the time for your travel plans and if there is a large enough group arriving at the same time we will put on a coach from the airport to Kinloss. Otherwise there is a regular train that goes from the airport to Forres from which it’s a very short journey to the venue. Taxis from the airport take around 30-40 mins and cost around £40. There is also a rental car pickup next to the airport. Other ways to travel are via train (nearest station is Forres) or drive (there is parking space at the onsite venue).
For those not arriving via car or getting a rental, we encourage people to work as a big friendly team and car pool trips into Forres and Findhorn on the Friday and Saturday morning for those needing/wanting it. For more info, see the Travel tab.
Is there a reward for whose who travelled the furthest to be there?
No.
What do we wear?
We want you to feel as comfortable as possible at our wedding. For the ceremony the groom and guard of honour will be in No.1 dress uniform. All other serving military are very welcome to also wear uniform but are by no means expected to! Bridesmaids dresses are being provided.
After the ceremony and photos the wedding party will be changing into smart casual (think summer cocktail dress and shirt and chino’s).
All other guests can be in smart casual throughout. For ladies the Bride's direction and guidance is to be colourful and comfortable! Heels are fine but bringing a set of flats is advised as the ceremony may be held on grass. Men are very welcome to wear a tie but the groom won’t have one!
When will we be fed?
The wedding breakfast (which we have recently learned is not actually a breakfast) will be at 1700. There will be cheese and nibbles provided before then but we also suggest you have lunch before the ceremony.
Where’s your registry?
We want to celebrate our wedding with our closest friends / family and are so grateful for you making the effort to come all this way. We are therefore not asking for any presents, please just come and share the day with us!
Are children welcome?
Yes, of course! Any children over 10 are considered guests in their own right. If you have children under 10 please just let us know in the RSVP.
Are dogs welcome?
The venue is dog friendly, if you can get them up here then by all means bring them along!
Why was I invited? We’re not that close.
Probably because we think you’ll add value…. Don’t let us down
